How to Cook Rye

Rye is a hearty tasting cereal grain that is high in dietary fiber, calcium, iron, and zinc. It is available at most health food stores and supermarkets. For this recipe you will need one cup of rye, two cups of water, and one medium sized pot. It will serve 2-4 people.
Total Preparation and/or Cooking Time: 19 Minutes
Step 1:
Get a cup of rye.

Step 2:
Place the rye in the pot, add water, and set to high heat.

Step 3:
After about 5 minutes the rye with start to boil and froth, when this happens turn the heat down to medium low.

Step 4:
The rye will continue to cook for 10-15 minutes, keeping checking the rye till it looks like most of the water has been absorbed, then switch off the heat and let the rye sit for 5 minutes.

Step 5:
You now have a delicious bowl of rye and the toppings are endless: apples, raisins, cherries, dates, prunes, nuts, cinnamon, or caraway.
